ARTIST PROFILE

An American artist, Georgia-grown and Florida-flourished, Honey Hilliard was self-taught since early childhood. After receiving an art degree from Florida State University, Honey was hired as the wildlife artist for the state of Florida. Her bird paintings adorn the state identification poster that has been in circulation 20+ years, in Florida's classrooms, state parks and hotels.

"My earliest memories include drawing and sketching to my parents' Neil Diamond 8-tracks with my brothers and Cocker Spaniels and rescue pups running around. I had a golden childhood with a beautiful emphasis on music and art. I believe art can be transformative, viewing it and making it. I always aim to keep my intentions focused on positivity, abundance and gratitude while painting. I hope my paintings convey a rich sense of joy and a colorful fullness of life." Since becoming a self represented artist, her painting practice has thrived in expressive collections with vibrant optimism released several times a year, first made available only to her email subscribers, then in public online art shows. She currently resides in Tallahassee, and often on Florida's Forgotten Coast, and with 2 daughters, husband, and a Llewellyn Setter.

Honey is a beloved teacher of the art-making process, both in consultation and in her newly launched "Honey Hive" art membership. Honey has authored and illustrated a children's book Looking for Butterflies, a color- along celebration of creativity, nature and butterflies. Her work has been featured in numerous magazines and publications, including Tallahassee Magazine, Tallahassee Woman, St John's Episcopal's Chimes, Best Version media magazines, as well as being featured in public murals. Her paintings have been exhibited across major cities in the U.S., along with several museum shows. Honey is also a Reiki master and energy healer. As a facilitator, her intention is that each participant touched by her guidance or embraced by the Honey Hive is elevated to a new level of artistic satisfaction, confidence and prolificness.
